Frequently asked questions
View all FAQsWhat is the difference between standard Base64 and URL-safe Base64url?
Standard Base64 uses '+' and '/' characters, which have special meanings in web addresses. Base64url replaces '+' with '-' and '/' with '_' so the encoded string can be placed safely inside URLs and filenames.
Why does my text with international characters work here when some Base64 tools fail?
Older browser tools only support basic English ASCII characters. FetchToolKit properly encodes multi-byte UTF-8 text so all languages and symbols convert accurately.
When should I check Omit Padding (=)?
Base64 strings are normally padded with '=' at the end to make their length a multiple of 4. Many web tokens (like JWTs) and URL parameters omit those trailing '=' characters.
Practical Example: Encoding Multi-Language Text and Decoding API Tokens
- Sample Input
- A text string containing international characters and symbols that needs to be encoded for an API header.
- Result
- Cleanly converted into standard Base64 or unpadded URL-safe Base64url and verified back to the exact original text.
